We’ll be discussing the impact of digital – how it’s being used to deliver social value in a whole range of new ways and how non-profit organisations are making the most of these new opportunities.

The Format of the evening
The evening, open only to those who work for charities and non-profit organisations, will have three parts: A talk – “The New Reality” by Julie Dodd, A panel discussion hosted by Jim Bowes with Bob Barbour, Claire Hazle, Rosie Slater and Julie Dodd and of course during the evening we’ll also have a slice of cake, some drinks and ample opportunity to mingle and soak up the knowledge sharing atmoshere in a relaxed environment
The New Reality
Julie Dodd’s research study into how digital will deliver the next step change in social impact, The New Reality, has been making waves among charity leaders. In this talk Julie will explore her key findings, the biggest challenges facing non-profit organisations and her framework to digital transformation.
The Panel Discussion
Having digested the key themes from The New Reality the panel discussion will complement the evening by exploring digital transformation in the charity sector. Hosted by Jim Bowes (CEO, Manifesto Digital) the panel comprises of digital leaders who are very familiar with the process and will be giving great insight from various stages of their journey towards digital excellence. The panelists are:
Bob Barbour
Shelter, Head of Digital
Bob’s been leading digital strategy and development for UK charities for the past ten years, including CSV, The MS Society and the NSPCC. He’s currently Head of Digital at Shelter, leading the in-house team in delivering a digital transformation programme covering services, campaigns and fundraising.
Claire Hazle
Marie Curie, Head of Digital
Claire is head of digital at Marie Curie, where she leads a team of twenty specialists across the full digital spectrum. She is passionate about everything digital and has worked in the industry for fifteen years in a number of sectors including travel and financial services. Claire was recently revealed as the 45th most influential person in the UK digital marketing industry with the Drum’s prestigious annual census.
Rosie Slater
British Red Cross, Chief Information Officer
Rosie is a dynamic Technology Director with extensive transformational experience in the charity, consulting and public sectors. Having joined the British Red Cross in April 2015, Rosie is the first person to hold the title Chief Information Officer there and is currently developing and implementing their technology and digital strategy.
Julie Dodd
Author of The New Reality report
Julie Dodd is a digital strategy consultant and author of The New Reality. She specialises in helping non-profit organisations use digital technology to deliver social value. Former creative director at the BBC and Zone, she’s made some very well known digital products over the years and has a deep love of finding out what makes audiences tick.
Jim Bowes
Manifesto Digital, CEO
Jim is a regular host and speaker at events focusing on digital in the charity sector and Agile methodologies. He has a wealth of experience spanning strategy, editorial, user experience and delivery. Since co-founding Manifesto in 2011 Jim has been making sure the work we create delivers value for clients like Cancer Research UK and Victim Support.
