The diabolical designs of Diabetes UK
As another month passes at Manifesto (farewell summer – we hardly knew you) we’re celebrating the successful launch of another charity campaign. Say hello to Dress Diabolical from Diabetes UK!
Having worked with Diabetes UK earlier this year on the very successful Swim22 campaign, they came to us with a really exciting idea for a new autumn campaign. With our help, they wanted to expand into the mass participation event market. Dress Diabolical is the result.
The brief was simple: to create an interactive site that would encourage existing supporters to have fun dressing up this Halloween (at school or in the office with colleagues) and raise some money for a really amazing cause while doing it.
Built using open-source content management system Drupal, Dress Diabolical sits on an existing Manifesto-built platform, used by Diabetes UK for their various forms. A landing page was added to give supporters the information needed to sign up along with some content pages to help them with outfit ideas, face-painting videos and fundraising plans.
One of the key requirements for Diabetes UK was to incorporate JustGiving into the registration process. The ability for supporters to sign in and create fundraising pages will be crucial to the success of the campaign and it’s something our developers are very experienced with. Using JustGiving also enabled us to utilise its team sign up functionality to allow groups of diabolical dressers to fundraise together.
Barbara, our über-talented designer, and Adi, our awesome UX designer, worked together to create an amazing design for the campaign.
We added some really cool interactive features like flying bats, flickering house lights and a countdown to Halloween timer that spins around. We also added some spooky images commissioned by Diabetes UK, which highlight the fun side of the campaign.
Join the frighteningly good fun
